New Pictures of Jack - 19 months old

Last night we had a barbecue with our friends Tonja, Phil & Mackenzie. Phil has an awesome camera and was able to capture some good shots of Jack, which I am unable to do most of the time because Jack is too quick!

One month and counting...

As of this weekend, I am officially 9 months pregnant! On Saturday I reached 36 weeks and by next week the baby will be considered full-term. I have an appointment with my OB on Thursday and should know more then about how I am progressing. The time has flown by and baby boy Sladic should be here before we know it!!!

One Lonely Croc!

MISSING: Right Croc, size 4/5, Cayman style, Chocolate brown color. Please return to Jack. Reward offered.

Jack received his first pair of Crocs as a gift this past Christmas. At first I wasn't sure if he'd like them or even be able to walk in them, but they quickly became his favorite pair of shoes -- almost bordering on obsession. He wanted to wear them all the time; such as over his footed pajamas, in bed and with every outfit (even if they didn't match). It became nearly impossible to get him to wear ANY other shoes!

Recently, Jack has begun to use his beloved Crocs as an attention-getter. Whenever he is in his stroller and is made to wait for Mommy, he kicks them off. If he is bored, he kicks them off. If he is mad, he kicks them off. There have been days recently where Mommy has had to bend over with her big 35 weeks pregnant belly over 20 times in a short period of time to put them back on his feet. (Unfortunately, just leaving the Crocs off is not an option, because an even bigger tantrum is caused).

Yesterday, after Jack and Mommy ate breakfast with their friends Tonja and Mackenzie, they went to the mall to kill a couple of hours before Peter's plane arrived from his guy's weekend in Las Vegas. The original plan was to browse a few stores and then take Jack to the Children's Play Area where he could burn off some energy. Unfortunately, we never made it that far.

We first went to Baby Gap where Jack got a new outfit (in chocolate brown, I might add) and then on to Nordstrom for a diaper change. After that, we headed to Old Navy to look around. In the baby section at Old Navy, a nice woman alerted me to the fact that Jack's Croc had just fallen on the floor. I bent over to get it, and, as always, expected to see it's mate not far away. Alas, there was only one Croc! So, I frantically looked around a larger area, yet the Croc was still nowhere to be found! I decided to retrace our steps and head back toward Nordstrom -- but still there is no Croc in sight. The walk between Old Navy and the Nordstrom bathroom is no short distance either ; it requires going outside, walking through the parking garage and taking an elevator to the second floor to the bathroom. However, we walked it 4 times! Sadly, Jack's beloved Croc was never found!

After the 30 minutes of searching, I decided it was a futile effort and that I needed to sit down because I was getting pretty tired from all the walking. I also realized that Jack now had no shoes to wear and we had to be at the airport in 45 minutes and I couldn't let him be shoeless when Daddy arrived. Luckily, this fiasco happened at the mall and since we were already in Nordstrom for the fourth time, we headed to the children's shoe department. Upon arrival, I noticed that they had a huge display or Crocs in almost every color and style imaginable and I was tempted to just buy the same chocolate brown Crocs for Jack. But I had had enough of the shoes being kicked off! Instead, Jack was going to get some sneakers with laces so Mommy wouldn't have to bend over anymore. Although usually, for most people, getting a new pair of shoes is a treat, Jack was in a way getting a "punishment" for his "Croc behavior". I quickly settled on getting him a pair of white Converse low-top sneakers that were so cute, but Jack practically refused to put them on his feet. The few seconds that he did have them on, he kicked and screamed and had one of the biggest meltdowns in shoe-buying history, I would think. I purchased them as fast as I could and we headed toward the food court to grab some lunch.

Once we left the store he let me put the Converse on, and, over the next little while, he began to show off his new shoes to the people he passed -- and by the time we got to the airport, he was running around in his new shoes, pointing and looking at them frequently. By evening, I think he had forgotten his Crocs.

While I am kind of sad that Jack's brown Crocs are gone -- especially because they were easy to get on and off and looked super-cute with his summer wardrobe, maybe it is a turning point. I now have high-hopes that I can get Jack some nice, normal summer sandals, which probably offer more support and are better for his feet anyway.

All hope is not lost, however, for Jack wearing Crocs again though; he still has a navy blue pair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our new stroller

Now that the second baby will be here in a few weeks, we figured it was time to purchase a double stroller. I have been researching them for many weeks now, but could not decide if I wanted to buy a tandem or side-by-side style. All I knew was that I did not want a really heavy stroller that was difficult to maneuver!

Finally, after three trips to the stroller store, we decided on the Phil and Ted's Four in One Sport Buggy stroller. It can be a single stroller, but also has an attachment for a second seat. Additionally, it only weighs 23 lbs. For fun, we chose the blue camo color! It hasn't been delivered to us yet, but this is a picture of it:

Below is some information I found which explains the versatility of the Phil and Ted's stroller and how easy it is to accommodate two children:

Phil & Ted's Sport Buggy Review

The Phil & Ted’s Sport Buggy sets the standard for double strollers and in my opinion is the best all purpose double stroller on the market today. It has a brilliant design that overcomes most of the shortcomings of both traditional types of double strollers. It’s no bigger than a regular jogging stroller and uses a top and down approach to carrying two kids. It can be used for a walk or a light job, as a neighborhood stroller, but it also fits into the trunk of car easily and fairly compactly and is portable enough to travel with or take on vacation. The Phil and Teds Sport Buggy, like the previous generation E3 is a actually a single stroller with an innovative toddler seat attachment which turns it into a double stroller. As seen in the pictures below, where the toddler seat attaches (front or back) depends on the age of the younger child. One of the nice features of the Sport Buggy is that the the toddler seat reclines in new models, which is great if you want to have the ability to have both kids nap on the go.

Highlighted Features

  • Canopy with peek-a-boo window
  • A new adjustable ergonomic handle
  • Velcro multi adjustable crotch strap
  • Zipper Recline on doubles kit
  • New quick release one touch hub wheels.
  • Bumper guards for the tires which prevent the younger child from playing with the tires when they are in back.
See The Pictures Below for How the Phil and Ted's Sport Buggy Works with 1 or 2 Kids
Phil and Ted's Double Stroller Buggy

How It Works
One child rides normally in the stroller (upper left). With a newborn, you unzip the main seat (upper right) allowing it to fall flat into a quasi bassinet and then attach the Doubles Kit (sold separately) for your toddler to sit on top (lower left). Our son used to pass out every time we put him in there as in infant because it's essentially a rocking bassinet that sways back and forth. Once your baby is old enough to sit up, the same seat attaches to the back of the stroller as a caboose (lower right) and then the older child sits in the regular seat up-front again. A lot of people ask me if the the toddler will be okay sitting in the back because they can’t see directly forward. It’s really not as bad as it looks because they can see out of both sides . Both our kids are happy in either position and they even fight over the back, so it's never been an issue at all and they are both usually claustrophobic.

Because it has jogging stroller qualities including large inflatable wheels, the Sport Buggy is great for all seasons and is very easy to maneuver both outdoors and in a store. It also folds relatively compactly for fitting in your trunk or taking on vacation, although for the later I would recommend the custom travel bag if you do to protect it. The bottom line is that everyone I know who has purchased this Phil and Ted's stroller has loved it. It's not the cheapest stroller on the market, but it works so well in so many areas, that's its absolutely worth the premium. Also, you may get a much better price from online merchants(especially with free shipping and no tax) as the Phil and Ted's Strollers are usually only carried by local baby boutiques.

Beautiful Weekend

The weather in San Jose this past weekend was fantastic -- the highs were in the 80's! So, we spent some time Saturday at the pool and Jack had a blast swimming with Daddy!

On Sunday, we took Jack to the park where he had fun on the swings and climbing the play structure. We had to leave early because it got too warm!!!

Dizzy Jack

Here is a recent video of Jack at 18 months old! We realized we hadn't taken any video of him since his first birthday, so I got the camera out the other night to capture a "day in the life" of Jack.
