Yesterday I was so proud of Jack! We stopped by Starbucks during one of our frequent afternoon walks. I was dying for a coffee and it was also time for Wyatt to eat. I ordered my coffee and a cookie for Jack and sat down in my favorite spot to feed Wyatt. Jack asked me for water, but when I pulled out his sippy cup, I noticed it was almost empty. He was begging me for more, but I was obviously busy. So I told him to go up to the counter and ask for more water, not really thinking he would do it. Guess what? He did!
Jack proudly walked up to the counter, said "more water" and held his cup up high for the barista to see...then he came running back to me with his water in hand. Granted, he did cut in line in front of 8 or so people and didn't say "please" or "thank you", but he is two -- and, he was so cute doing it, that no one seemed to care.

Reminiscing
A year ago today, Jack started walking...oh, how my life changed that day!!! There was no more privacy to be had and suddenly Jack had free reign on the house = disaster. The first few days that Jack walked, he resembled Frankenstein by holding his arms straight out in front of him. Since that time, however, he hasn't slowed down and now he sometimes runs so fast, I can't even keep up with him.
Also, on a more serious note, for a kid born with Spina Bifida it is an amazing gift that he is able to do this!

Boys will be boys
We went outside today to the "spitting frogs" fountain to take pictures of Wyatt. Jack decided to entertain himself with the frogs and got really wet! He had so much fun spraying the water all over himself and at me. He didn't even want to go inside to dry off. There is no denying that I have a little boy! I am sure there will be many, many more times like this.
(Notice how he progressively gets wetter and wetter!)

Wyatt is 5 months old
Today Wyatt is 5 months old. As I have said in all my previous posts on the day he becomes a month older, I really can't believe how fast he is growing up!
This month Wyatt started sucking his thumb to fall asleep, found his voice and squeals when he is happy and continues to love eating his feet. His big brother is his favorite source of entertainment, but he also loves his toys! The "Squishy Turtle and Friends" book is one of his favorites (mostly because he likes to chew on it) and he also loves his Lamaze firefly.
I don't have an official weight or height for Wyatt, but it seems like he has really grown taller in the past couple of weeks because his pants are getting short. They continue to be really large in the waist, however, and I am guessing he weighs in at a whopping 13 1/2 pounds.

Pumpkin Patch
This weekend we took a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. In addition to the pumpkin patch, there was a corn maze, pony rides, a train and a kids' area. I was really excited for Jack to see the place, but he fell asleep on the way there and wasn't too happy about being awakened. We tried having him navigate the kid's maze made out of bails of hay, but he wasn't interested. We tried having him go through the neat tunnels made out of hay bales, but he didn't want to do that either. Finally after about an hour and visiting the scary Frankenstein display, Jack decided the place wasn't so bad. He ended up having fun in the Pumpkin Patch with his friend Camden and enjoyed trying to pick up the pumpkins.
Wyatt was his usual self and pretty much enjoyed looking around at everything and taking in all the action.
Up and running again
Thanks to an early Christmas/Birthday present from my wonderful parents, I have a new laptop and am now back up and running! I was able to get pretty much the same computer I had before, however my new laptop is a bit faster and has more memory. This time, I am thinking of wrapping my computer in bubble wrap, just so there are no more accidents!!!

Computer Accident!
I just thought I would post the unfortunate news that about 15 minutes ago, my computer took an unwelcome fall off the chair and crashed to the floor in just the right way that my LCD screen is toast. Currently only a small corner of the screen works, so I am desperately trying to figure out how to back-up all the data from my computer with about 15% of the screen available for use. As a result, I probably won't be updating the blog for awhile...
I just got off the phone with Fry's Electronics and they informed me that it will probably be about $500 to fix the screen on my laptop. Well, I paid $750 for my laptop, so I am not really sure what to do. Only 2 years ago my other laptop just stopped working one day and it was also going to cost about the same to fix than replace. I think Peter might not be thrilled about buying me yet another laptop. And, since I am staying home with the boys, who knows where I'll find money for a new one.
Oh well, I hope to be able to update the blog again someday soon!

Bite Marks, Playtime & Cheerios
Bite Marks:
We walked to the park last week on a beautiful, 80 degree day. Jack climbed all over the play structure and Wyatt enjoyed spending time on the blanket watching everything with mommy, his new friend Sadie and her mom. Jack took a quick break and came over to give his baby brother kisses on the arm, however he wasn't really giving "kisses". Instead, this is what I noticed as Jack ran back over toward the slide...
Playtime:
Overall, Jack is a very sweet boy! More and more, I find a scene similar to this one in our living room -- awww, how cute!

Cheerios:
Lately, Jack has become quite independent. I tried to serve him Cheerios in a bowl, but he would have none of it! He wanted the entire box. I think he got the idea of eating out of the box from our trip to the grocery store last week after daycare. Apparently he doesn't always eat a whole lot for lunch, so by the time I pick him up, he is starving! He was so hungry he couldn't wait to get home to eat his snack, so I opened the box of Cheerios for him right in the middle of Safeway (he also ate a banana and drank a milk on this particular shopping trip).
Against my better judgment, I again gave him the entire box today...I had to throw a load of laundry into the dryer as well as stir the soup heating on the stove. The next thing I know, Jack has done this!!!!!! Are you kidding me?

This "Cheerio Catastrophe" of 2008 is definitely reminiscent of the "Olive Oil Debacle" of 2007:
